Dostana

Storyline

Dostana is a stylish, emotionally resonant, and gripping commercial drama directed by Raj Khosla, crafted with scintillating dramatic tension by the peerless screenwriting duo Salim-Javed. The narrative intricately examines the sanctity and vulnerability of male camaraderie through childhood best friends: Vijay Varma, an incorruptible, fearless police inspector known for his sharp detective instincts, and Ravi Kapoor, an exceptionally brilliant and flamboyant criminal defense attorney. Despite their fundamentally opposing professions—Vijay relentlessly hunts down ruthless underworld syndicate bosses while Ravi routinely secures their bail and legal acquittals—their childhood bond remains rock-solid, celebrated through the timeless pledge of 'Bane Chahe Dushman Zamana Hamara'. However, this unbreakable brotherhood faces its most fatal test when both men independently encounter and fall passionately in love with Sheetal, a captivating and intelligent young woman. While Ravi openly confides his romantic infatuation to Vijay, Vijay silently chooses to suppress his own deep affection for Sheetal out of devotion to his friend. Observing this delicate rift with sadistic cunning, the notorious international smuggling kingpin Daaga—whom Vijay is actively pursuing—concocts an insidious conspiracy of falsified evidence and clandestine photographs to convince Ravi that Vijay is secretly stabbing him in the back. As toxic suspicion poisons their lifelong friendship, Vijay and Ravi are dragged into a harrowing clash of pride, legal battles, and violent street shootouts, building toward a high-stakes airport runway climax where only supreme self-sacrifice can unmask Daaga's venomous deception and salvage their sacred brotherhood.
