Cast of Lucifer (Film), Box Office Gross, Budget & Streaming Guide
"Blood, brotherhood, and betrayal."
Storyline
Directed by actor Prithviraj Sukumaran in a sensational directorial debut and written by Murali Gopy, 2019's political action drama Lucifer made box office history, becoming the very first Malayalam film to gross over ₹200 crore worldwide and establishing a new gold standard for high-octane South Indian mass cinema. The narrative ignites with the sudden death of Kerala's beloved Chief Minister P.K. Ramdas, triggering a fierce, corrupt succession battle within the ruling party. As Ramdas's devious, narcotics-funded son-in-law Bimal 'Bobby' Nair (Vivek Oberoi in a chilling Malayalam debut) moves to hijack state power and finance election campaigns using international drug cartels, Stephen Nedumpally (superstar Mohanlal in an effortlessly regal, volcanic alpha performance), Ramdas's enigmatic, reclusive foster son known as 'Lucifer', emerges from the shadows. Possessing terrifying global underworld connections as international mafia broker Khureshi Ab'raam, Stephen orchestrates a masterclass in tactical political warfare, dismantling Bobby's syndicates while shielding Ramdas's grieving family (anchored by Manju Warrier and Tovino Thomas). Elevated by Sujith Vaassudev's rich cinematography and Deepak Dev's explosive mass themes, Lucifer is an exhilarating, adrenaline-fueled spectacle that forever revolutionized Malayalam commercial cinema.
