Madame Web

Storyline

Madame Web is a suspenseful psychological and supernatural superhero thriller directed by S.J. Clarkson, exploring the fateful, multiversal web of destiny that underpins the Spider-Man mythos through an enigmatic origin story. Set in Manhattan in 2003, the storyline follows Cassandra 'Cassie' Webb, a pragmatic, fiercely independent paramedic working alongside her partner Ben Parker on the gritty emergency streets of New York. Following a near-fatal drowning accident inside a collapsed ambulance submerged in the Hudson River, Cassie experiences disorienting, terrifying temporal lapses and precognitive visions that reveal impending disasters seconds before they materialize. As she struggles to comprehend her awakening clairvoyance, Cassie's visions thrust her directly into the path of three troubled young women—Julia Cornwall, Anya Corazon, and Mattie Franklin—who are being hunted across the city by Ezekiel Sims, a lethal, enhanced clairvoyant hunter wearing an ominous black spider suit. Years earlier in the Amazon rainforest, Ezekiel betrayed Cassie's pregnant mother to steal a miraculous, mystical spider whose biological venom granted him superhuman powers, yet he is now tormented by recurring visions of these three teenagers manifesting as superheroic Spider-Women and slaying him in the future. Recognizing her maternal duty to protect the girls from Ezekiel's murderous preemptive strikes, Cassie takes them into hiding, unlocking the ancestral spider lore tied to her mother's death. Navigating shifting timelines and tactical ambushes, Cassie learns to weaponize her temporal foresight and weave the destinies of future protectors. Grounded in suspense and female camaraderie, Madame Web delivers an intriguing foundational chapter of the spider lore.
