Storyline

Rampage is a colossal, adrenaline-pumping sci-fi creature feature and disaster action spectacle directed by Brad Peyton, inspired by the iconic Midway video-game classic of the late 1980s. The catastrophe begins high in Earth’s orbit aboard a private research space station owned by Energyne, a ruthless, corrupt genetics corporation headed by callous CEO Claire Wyden. When an unauthorized, weaponized pathogen experiment known as Project Rampage causes the station to implode, shattered canisters of the volatile gene-editing mutagen plummet across North America. In a serene San Diego wildlife sanctuary, Davis Okoye, an exceptionally skilled former special-forces soldier and primatologist who prefers the company of animals to humans, shares an extraordinary, sign-language bond with George, an intelligent and gentle albino silverback gorilla he rescued from poachers. However, after George encounters the fallen pathogen canister, the bio-engineered compound triggers rapid cellular growth, hyper-aggression, and monstrous physical size, causing him to double in scale overnight. Realizing that a mutated, gigantic gray wolf and an immense armored crocodile have also been contaminated across the country, Davis teams up with disgraced geneticist Dr. Kate Caldwell to develop a synthesized antidote before the military incinerates his beloved friend. When Energyne transmits a high-frequency radio beacon from the top of the Sears Tower to draw the gargantuan apex predators to downtown Chicago for containment, the city descends into apocalyptic chaos. Featuring jaw-dropping urban demolition, massive visual effects, and Dwayne Johnson’s charismatic physical heroics, Rampage is a thrilling, action-packed thrill ride.
