The Social Network
"You don't get to 500 million friends without making a few enemies."
Storyline
Directed with razor-sharp surgical precision by David Fincher and written by Aaron Sorkin, The Social Network won three Academy Awards and is hailed as the definitive modern tragedy of the 21st century. Jesse Eisenberg delivers a career-defining, Oscar-nominated performance as Mark Zuckerberg, a brilliant, socially insecure 19-year-old Harvard sophomore who, dumped by his girlfriend in the fall of 2003, creates a misogynistic campus website called Facemash that crashes Harvard's servers. Evolving this coding concept into 'TheFacebook' alongside his wealthy, loyal best friend and CFO Eduardo Saverin (Andrew Garfield in a heartbreaking, emotionally volcanic turn), the platform spreads like wildfire across global universities. When aristocratic rowing champions the Winklevoss twins claim Zuckerberg stole their intellectual property, and charismatic Napster co-founder Sean Parker (Justin Timberlake) seduces Mark into Silicon Valley venture capital, Eduardo is ruthlessly diluted out of the company. Anchored by Sorkin's machine-gun dialogue, Kirk Baxter and Angus Wall's Oscar-winning rhythmic editing, and Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross's groundbreaking ambient electronic score, The Social Network is a peerless Greek tragedy.
