Sushin Shyam Biography & Career Overview

Sushin Shyam is a National Award-winning Indian music composer, music producer, instrumentalist, and singer widely hailed as the visionary sonic architect behind the contemporary golden age of Malayalam cinema. Born in Thalassery, Kerala, Sushin was a keyboardist for the legendary Indian metal band The Down Troddence before transitioning to film music under the mentorship of composer Rex Vijayan. With landmark soundtrack and background scores for Kumbalangi Nights (2019, which won him the Kerala State Film Award for Best Music Director), Virus (2019), Minnal Murali (2021), Bheeshma Parvam (2022), and Kannur Squad (2023), Sushin revolutionized Indian cinematic soundscapes by marrying indigenous folk rhythms with cutting-edge electronic beats, synthwave textures, and ambient orchestral arrangements. In 2023, Sushin composed the viral musical score for Jithu Madhavan's Romancham, where anthems like 'Aadhadharangalkkappuram' and 'Manavalan Thug' became viral global sensations that elevated the film's quirky, spooky aesthetic. In 2024, Sushin achieved unprecedented historic milestones, composing the monumental musical score for the all-time highest-grossing Malayalam film Manjummel Boys, followed by Jithu Madhavan's Aavesham, where the EDM track 'Illuminati' amassed hundreds of millions of views worldwide and defined Indian youth pop culture. Sushin Shyam represents the apex of modern cinematic musical innovation in India.
